Windvalley’s tale began not with blueprints, but with a leap of faith. I’m Vinayak, your host—once an IT professional coding in Bangalore’s high-rises, now a storyteller guiding guests through Idukki’s emerald wilderness. In 2018, a solo trip to Ramakkalmedu changed everything. Standing atop Kuravan Kurathi Hills, watching fog swallow valleys whole, I felt a call: Build not just a homestay, but a haven. With no hospitality training—just a passion for Kerala’s culture and landscapes—I transformed my ancestral farmland into Windvalley.

Those early days were humbling. Monsoons washed out roads; sourcing materials meant navigating mountain trails on foot. But the community rallied—local masons taught me to build with stone; grandmothers shared recipes for karimeen moilee (our signature fish curry). Slowly, Windvalley took root: stone cottages rose beside organic vegetable patches; jeep trails were carved to Amappara’s tortoise-shaped rock; and travelers began arriving, not as clients, but as kindred spirits.

Today, every detail honors that journey. Our herbal teas blend lemongrass grown steps from your veranda. The frog-shaped boulder on our photography tours? I stumbled upon it while mapping treks. Even setbacks became blessings—when landslides blocked roads, we created monsoon storytelling marathons, where guests share tales over steaming puttu. This Homestay in Ramakkalmedu is my love letter to these hills.
